A meticulously detailed analysis of the Biblical books of Daniel and Revelation. As Daniel is often assumed by Bible scholars to be prophetic, not just about Daniel’s present but about the future of the Church as well, and most of Revelation seems to deal with predictions and discussion of the events that will end the world as we know it, Deroy L. Hanson compares and contrasts the two books in a scholarly attempt to discern what we are meant to know about the end times. He explains the various doctrinal divisions that exist in the eschatological arena and discusses how the different viewpoints dissect and interpret the prophecies contained in these books. 340 pages, appendix, glossary, index, illustrations.

He explains the various doctrinal divisions that exist in the eschatological arena and discusses how the different viewpoints dissect and interpret the prophecies contained in these books.
The two main schools of thought, the Futurist school and the Historicist school, hold opposing views: the Futurists believe that most of the prophecy in Revelation will be fulfilled during the Great Tribulation, following the Rapture of the Church by Jesus Christ; the Historicists believe that most of Revelation has already been fulfilled, concluding that it seems unreasonable to suppose that a major portion of Biblical prophecy must wait for fulfillment until after the Rapture of the Church. Hanson thoroughly explores both sides, explaining clearly and with copious Biblical references his suppositions and conclusions. Supported by detailed timelines and calendars, and a comprehensive explanation of the symbolism found in both Daniel and Revelation, Hanson presents in his book an educated, in-depth discussion of the end times as portrayed in the Bible.
