BABYLON OR JERUSALEM

Two cities figure predominantly in the Bible's discussion of the end times: BABYLON and JERUSALEM. One represents man's attempt to make a perfect world on his own; the other, God's intervention and salvation. One symbolizes man's drive for prosperity, stability and unity without God; the other, God's impartation of these things through submission to His Lordship. One is a city full of greed, materialism and immorality; the other, a city filled with selflessness, peace, and holiness. One is the seat of a cruel megalomaniac: a world dictator who talks of peace and prosperity, but will finally be revealed as a false messiah. The other is the seat of the true Prince of peace, whose reign will bring ultimate peace and righteousness to this world.
