MATTHEW 24: Future or Fulfilled? - Set of Three Audio CD's
Gary DeMar & Dr. Barry E. Horner, 2009 |

Gary DeMar and Barry Horner debated when the events of Matthew 24 were or would be fulfilled. Mr. DeMar takes the position that the Olivet Discourse is a prophecy of events that were fulfilled before that first-century generation passed away in the events leading up to and including the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70. Dr. Horner argues that the prophecies of Matthew 24 were ongoing and would find their fulfillment beyond the time of that first-century generation. They remain to be fulfilled in completion. This three-disc set includes the opening statements by DeMar and Horner, a period of cross examination, and answers to questions from the audience. Also included are DeMar’s 70-page PDF interpretive outline of Matthew 24 and Horner’s 61-page PDF handout that he made available to the audience. Set of three audio CDs. Total running time approx. 3 hours.

Grasp what this book teaches, and you won't waste any more of your time on the pre-mil, pre-trib fiction put out by the so-called "prophecy experts." Matthew 24 Fulfilled examines the issues related to popular "end-times" hysteria and counters with a view consistent with all of Scripture. In this book, Bray states: "Present-day students of eschatology seem woefully ignorant of the writings of past theologians on these subjects. There was a time (prior to the mid-1800s) when the most prominent interpretation of Matthew 24 was from the preterite standpoint, and the dating of Revelation was believed to be at an earlier date than is now believed." 349 pages, paper, bibliography.

Taking a preterist view, this book studies all texts referring to the "latter days" and the "end time," showing that they refer to ancient societies, especially the Jewish nation which fell to the Romans in AD 70. Using the Old Testament as precedent, the author reviews each idea and symbol of Matthew 24 and shows unmistakably that the entire chapter describes the destruction of Jerusalem at that time: the setting at a time of unrest and war, the great tribulation, and finally the siege and capture of the city. Any effort to extend these prophecies to the present and future encounters immense difficulties. 192 pages, paper, index, Scripture index
